چکیده

We suggest a model of categorization based on prototypes. A set of entities, identified with some finite dimensional Euclidian space, is partitioned into a finite number of categories. Such a categorization is said to be generated by extended prototypes if there is a set of distinguished entities, one for each category, such that the categorization is determined by proximity to these prototypical entities. The prototypes are called extended since they are described by points in a higher dimensional space than the entities. Sufficient conditions for a categorization to be generated by extended prototypes are provided. These conditions are also necessary if the prototypes are in general

Categorization Generated by Prototypes – an Axiomatic Approach

We present a model of categorization based on prototypes. A prototype is an image or template of an idealized member of the category. Once a set of prototypes is defined, entities are sorted into categories on the basis of the prototypes they are closest to. We provide a characterization of those categorizations that are generated by prototypes. School of Mathematical Sciences, Tel Aviv Univers...

SBM extended model with nonlinear value data in data envelopment analysis with axiomatic approach

One of the important goals of banks as important economic enterprises of any country is to increase economic efficiency. One of the important goals of banks as important economic enterprises of any country is to increase economic efficiency. The classical approach to data envelopment analysis models takes into account the linear valuation function for all indicators. But linear valuation in man...

Who is an Ideal Organizational Leader in Iran? Examining the Content, Structure, and Consequences of Iranian Implicit Leadership Theories (IILTS)

Implicit Leadership Theories (ILTs) are individuals’ perceptions of the traits and behaviors characterizing leaders. Four studies investigated the reliabilities and different types of validities for a scale developed to measure Iranian Implicit leadership Theories (IILTs). Study 1 used a qualitative method to extract the implicit theories of ideal leadership after interviewing 27 experts. The I...

Conceptual Spaces with Weighted Prototypes: An Application to Categorization

This thesis introduces a new integrated formalization of the conceptual spaces framework proposed by Gärdenfors. We extend the notion of conceptual space generated by a set of prototypes by adding a weight vector to each prototype. This will allow us to represent non-uniformly scaled concepts and, as a special case, partial concepts. We also present a novel Weighted Prototypes-Based Categorizat...

An axiomatic approach to soft learning vector quantization and clustering

This paper presents an axiomatic approach to soft learning vector quantization (LVQ) and clustering based on reformulation. The reformulation of the fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm provides the basis for reformulating entropy-constrained fuzzy clustering (ECFC) algorithms. This analysis indicates that minimization of admissible reformulation functions using gradient descent leads to a broad varie...
